Behind the scenes of our holiday fashion shoot

Georgetown’s Capella Hotel was the setting for lou lou’s 2015 holiday photo shoot last week – the perfect backdrop for some of our most exciting merchandise yet!
I always thought photo shoots sounded so glamorous – and they are when you are in the moment – but the prep work begins way back at the beginning when our buyers analyze trends and start shopping for holiday merchandise in the early summer months. They choose items and start to form a collection, which turns into a campaign, and then the creative team picks the outfits and accessories to eventually be showcased by our model and captured by our in-house photographer, with our graphic designer adding finishing touches. Our whole team brings the vision to life through these photos representing the look, feel and lifestyle of lou lou.

What I have learned is that you have to be extremely organized from the beginning. You must bring every single item you need that day and have each look planned down to what color lipstick the model should wear and which earrings look best competing with a thick knitted poncho AND whether hair is going to be up or down, what is the lighting like in the various rooms, and whether or not there is a place to change clothes…you get the idea.

We shot a total of twenty looks and many more variations on those core collections. It is so easy to get caught up in the moment while the photos are being taken but the tiny details – the movement of an earring at just the right angle, the light reflecting off of a sparkly pattern in a headband – are what we want to capture for our customers, especially for those of you who order from us online. We strive to convey the details just as if you were seeing the item in person! If you have any questions about any of the items we are here to help you with that too, just activate the live chat function on our website to speak with us or give us a call.
Our model Noelle was amazing to work and it definitely got all of us excited about the holidays…casual blanket scarf looks for shopping in Georgetown, sparkly jewelry and evening clutches for enjoying drinks with friends at a cozy lounge, and layered knitwear for sitting by the fire making gift lists! What’s on your holiday agenda this year? Knock out your list at lou lou then head down to Capella Georgetown to escape the crowds and enjoy your shopping success. Tell the bartender at the Rye Bar that we sent you!

Happy shopping!
Stephanie
